ATP 191
Safety and Health Authorized Trainer
$695 | 32 Hours

This course incorporates an overview of instructional strategies, design, and practices for adult learning settings. It explores situational and cultural factors that influence adult learning and reviews the requirements of ANSI Z490.1, Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health, and Environmental Training on how to create, maintain, and evaluate effective EH&S training. Various instructional approaches, classroom management techniques, and the effective use of visual aids and handouts will be covered. Participants will develop informational presentations based upon the technical instruction and individual research requirements. Instruction and hands-on exercises on specific safety and health topics will be provided. The course includes "teach back" sessions to apply the adult learning techniques and effective safety and health training knowledge and skills. Participants will work in small groups or independently to develop the technical information for their presentation on one of the listed topic areas. Successful completion of the course and written and performance examinations will allow the participant to be recognized as an UTA Authorized Trainer.

Prerequisites: Participants must have three (3) years of safety and health work experience in any industry (verified on the prerequisite verification form), or be a current authorized Outreach trainer.
