Ammunition and Explosives Hazard Classification

This customized training course introduces the hazard classification process for ammunition and explosives as outlined in Technical Bulletin (TB) 700-2. The procedures for assessing potential reaction of ammunition and explosives and the assignment of hazard class and hazard division for transportation and storage are presented. The elements of hazard classification to include hazard classes, hazard divisions, compatibility groups, and fragment and firebrand distances are explained. Hazard classification procedures for energetic liquids is also discussed. Department of Defense (DoD) hazard classification procedures for final hazard classification, interim hazard classification, and conditional are covered. Governing regulations for the hazard classification of ammunition and explosives are reviewed.
