Get paid to tear computers apart, and then put them back together again even better and faster! Make a career as a computer technician with many employment and freelance opportunities for fixing, upgrading, and connecting computers. The A+ certification demonstrates competency as a computer technician. CompTIA A+ certification is a vendor neutral certification that covers numerous technologies and operating systems from such vendors as Microsoft, Apple and some of the Linux variations. You will become the "computer guy" that every office adores.
Even if you have certification in other computer related competencies the A+ certification will benefit you. This course welcomes BOTH participants with NO PRIOR computer experience and those with advanced knowledge. Participants with advanced knowledge may have gaping holes in their knowledge and they don't know what they don't know. One of the benefits of pursuing any certification is that it helps guide your studies to ensure you cover all the required elements that you may miss otherwise. Many people work many years on an IT job and are exposed to a wide assortment of problems and scenarios and they end up learning all of this information during the process. Others work many years on an IT job but job requirements keep them focused on a narrow element of IT. If you work for or plan to work for the United States DoD as a government employee or as a contractor for any enterprise involved in DoD activities, you will be required to have or obtain the A+ or specific higher level certification.
The most significant certifying organization for PC technicians is the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), which sponsors the A+ Certification Program. To become certified, you must pass two test modules: the Core test and the DOS/Windows test. This course is designed to teach the computer technician the skills needed to prepare the student for the tests. This complete bundle teaches such subjects as the Windows and DOS operating systems, control settings in CMOS, hardware basics, in-depth instruction on floppy drives and hard drives, troubleshooting techniques, working with peripherals, memory installation and management, computer media, networking, and system maintenance.
This is an 8-week course; 128 hours.Required Materials: Cheap toolkit (generally contains couple of different sizes of Phillips-head screw drivers, a star screwdriver, tweezers for chasing the small screws and parts, a regular screw driver, chip pullers, tubes for holding the screws and jumpers), flash drive 32gb or larger (64gb recommended)
