This course covers OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures in general industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA General Industry Standards, general industry principles and special emphasis on those areas in general industry which are most hazardous. Upon course completion students will have the ability to define general industry terms found in the OSHA General Industry Standards, identify hazards which occur in general industry, locate and determine appropriate OSHA General Industry Standards, policies, and procedures, and describe the use of OSHA General Industry Standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program.

John is a safety, health and environmental professional with nearly 30 years' experience in general industry and construction. After working in the EHS field for companies such as Lear Corporation, PepsiCo, Masco Corporation John began consulting and teaching for the OSHA Training Institute Training Centers. John earned his Master of Science in Safety & Environmental Management from West Virginia University's College of Engineering & Mineral Resources. He is a Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO), Safety Health and Environmental Professional (SHEP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Registered Environmental Manager (REM), Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), and a Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP). John is a consultant and trainer at The Kossos Group, LLC where he provides professional services in the areas of environmental, health, safety, security and energy.
