• Analyze Contract Documents pertaining to Asphalt Surface Treatments and Pavements.
  
• Develop and demonstrate basic mathematic skills for Inspecting Asphalt Surface Treatments and Pavements.
  
• Identify the aggregate types and grades used in Asphalt Surface Treatments and Pavements.
  
• Develop an understanding of the Asphalts, Oils, and Emulsions used in Surface Treatments and Hot-Mix Pavements.
  
• Learn the types and capabilities of Equipment used for Asphalt Surface Treatments and Pavements.
  
• Develop and demonstrate Inspection Documentation skills pertaining to Asphalt Surface Treatments and Pavements.
  
• Learn Measurement and Payment techniques used for Roadway Construction Projects.
  
• Develop and demonstrate an understanding of the rates of asphalt and aggregate used for Asphalt Surface Treatment operations.
  
• Learn basic Sampling and Testing methods used for Inspecting Asphalt Surface Treatments and Pavements.
  

Coordinated trip to local work zone and TxDOT laboratory.

NOTE: PPE is required!

• Gain experience and perspective about being in a work zone.
  
• Understand the environmental challenges on a roadway project.
  
• Learn about safety priorities.
• Attain a stronger understanding of construction material testing through observation of live testing procedures.
• Embrace the sights and sounds of the laboratory and observe their safety protocols.
