Music and Sound Design Production Certificate
Certificate program effective January 22, 2013.
Formerly called Audio Recording
The affordability of technology and the Internet have toppled the music industry's oligopoly hold on creative talent. Thanks to iTunes, Spotify, and an exponential growing number of independent films opportunities for composers, musicians, sound designers, and even game developers to publish or license their music and sound libraries for profit. This program walks you through the entire process of song writing, recording, mixing, and producing your work for commercial use.
There are several career opportunities to pursue after completing the certificate program:
- Audio Engineer
- Sound Designer
- Sound Editor
- Front of House Mixer
- Monitor Mixer
- Recording Engineer
- Forensic Audio
- Music Producer
- Song Writer
- Production Sound Mixer
The Music and Sound Design Production Certificate can be obtained by completing four (4) required courses; one (1) Capstone; and enrolling in the Music and Sound Design Certificate Program:
- Song Writing Beginner (using Garage Band)
- Studio Recording (using Logic, Pro Tools)
- Home Recording and Sound Design with Adobe Audition (formerly called Audio Recording and Adobe Audition for Home Studio and Sound Design)
- Business of Music and Sound Design Production
- Music and Sound Production Capstone (usually taken last)
Upon completion of the required courses and Music and Sound Design Certificate Program Fee, students must notify the Continuing Education office. After verifying the student's completion status, a certificate will be mailed to the student's address on record.
