BUSINESS WRITING CERTIFICATE

The Business Communications 50-hour certificate program is designed for professionals who are in one of three career spaces: eager to augment their current professional communication skills; or ready to improve upon their established written, verbal and electronic communication skills; or prepared to start an entirely new career, including transitioning into any number of growing fields grounded on business communication: customer relations, HR, accounting, marketing, etc. Participants will develop usable critical thinking skills by crafting email messages; building a professional portfolio, consisting of seven documents; polishing editing skills; advancing team skills; perfecting leadership skills; resolving conflict; improving cross-culture communication, and implementing other useful strategies of public speaking. In addition to improving a variety of hard skills, participants will increase their self-confidence as a professional writer and speaker and a durable critical thinker.

Business communication is the art of exchanging information in order to promote an organization's goals.

The UTA-CE Business Communications Certificate Program is a practical mode of learning that will navigate you in the right direction to meet those goals by writing and editing professional emails, memos, various letters, reports, analyses and proposals to internal and external audiences.

In addition, the program will prepare you to be a confident public speaker in any setting by learning theories of public speaking, practicing enunciation skills, managing your body (nerves) and body language, connecting with an audience, delivering essential content, capturing the people's attention, resolving conflict, avoiding "filler words," and most importantly: listening more . . . speaking less-the art of establishing common ground.

Over the course of four months, you will acquire the expertise to constitute yourself as professional business communicator, one whose reputation as a quality writer and speaker is recognized.
