EKG ECG Technician
This course offers classroom and practical instruction on obtaining electrocardiograms in healthcare settings. Instruction includes patient preparation, use and maintenance of the electrocardiograph and methods for obtaining an electrocardiogram. Students will also learn how to recognize abnormalities on the electrocardiogram. This course is perfect for the student looking to enter the healthcare field as well as the healthcare professional looking to acquire additional skills.Upon successful completion of the course the student will receive a certificate of completion from UT Arlington and will be eligible to sit for the certification exam with the National Healthcareer Association. Certifying bodies may require documents as proof of employment eligibility. All programs include HIPAA, infection control, blood borne pathogens, personal protective equipment and hand washing review.
Classroom hours: 80
Tuition includes: Textbooks(s), UTA-EEC ID badge, one set of scrubs, drug test, CPR training and the NHA EKG certification exam.
Orientation: We will go over everything you need to submit and answer all of your questions on the first day of class.
PLEASE NOTE:
EKG/ECG Technician participants are not required to complete an externship in order to be eligible for certification.
As a result, externships are no longer assigned as part of the program. Participants will develop the required skills through structured classroom instruction aligned with certification standards. Participants choosing to complete an externship must independently secure their own placement. Program staff will assist with onboarding after a site has been confirmed.
