UI and UX Design Certificate Program

User Interface and User Experience (a.k.a. UI/UX) is one of the hottest gigs in the technology industry today! The field is a combination of visual design, usability, and web development, with the goal of creating beautiful product experiences for users. Job opportunities for UI/UX professionals include user research, usability analyst, information architect, interaction designer, visual designer, and UI/UX designer. Expected salary provided by The Component Group runs on the low end at 75K to 117K on the high end.

UI/UX Design has a low barrier of entry for those with some experience working on a software project (web, mobile, desktop, or something else). Many professionals with print backgrounds and experience in Adobe products are also attracted to this career path. The differences between UI/UX design and graphic design comes from interaction design. Graphic designers are probably good in visual design, so this certificate program helps develop interaction design too.

UI/UX designers are responsible for designing satisfying or compelling experiences for users of a product, often drawing on results from user research and workflow analysis. Often they are responsible for producing wireframes, personas, usage scenarios, site maps, taxonomies, and conducting usability testing on prototypes or finished products to access the quality of a user experience. They are often experts in understanding of graphic design and web technologies.

Many classes offered under the UI/UX Design Certificate Program can also be used towards the Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing Certificate Program** and the Web Design Certificate programs.

** The Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing Certificate Program will phase out at the end of July 2014.
