This trainer course is for employers to use in complying with the upcoming December 1, 2013 deadline to train their employees on the Globally Harmonized System for Hazard Communication (known as GHS). The course materials will cover the regulatory requirements for container labeling, the 9 pictograms and their meanings, the Safety Data Sheet format and content requirements. Participants will receive a Trainer's Tool Kit containing a PowerPoint presentation covering the knowledge requirements, instructor notes, student handouts, the GHS/SDS OSHA Quick Cards, a written comprehension test, an answer key, and a certificate of completion.
Prerequisites: Formal training credentials are not required, but it is highly recommended that employers use a trainer with OSHA 500 or 501 experience. As a minimum, the employer should select a person who meets the Employee Information and Training criteria [1910.1200(h)], and the Guidelines for Employer Compliance [Appendix E]
