Work Zone Safety: Temporary Traffic Control

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course offers a practical, hands-on introduction to the traffic control guidelines used in maintenance activities and short-term operations. Designed with field personnel in mind, it equips participants with the knowledge to plan, select, apply, and manage temporary traffic control in real-world scenarios.
Whether you're part of a maintenance or utility crew, construction team, or work for a state or local agency, this course is tailored to anyone involved in operations within or near highway rights-of-way.
You'll dive into key concepts from Chapter 6 of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD), including work zone components and their requirements, correct device usage, worker safety, and typical applications for short-term projects. By the end of the course, you’ll be better prepared to create safer, more efficient work zones.
COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES :
- Elements of temporary traffic control found within chapter 6 of the "Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices" (TMUTCD)
- Components of a work zone and their respective requirements
- Proper application of devices
- Worker safety
- The use of typical applications most often utilized in short term operations
CERTIFICATE:
