FLG 522 - QUALIFIED FLAGGER TRAINING & TRAINER

Course Description:
This course is designed to prepare contractor representatives to present the 4-hour Flagger Training course to employees wishing to become qualified flaggers.
In addition to basic training in fundamental concepts of work zone traffic control and flagging, adult training techniques will be presented, discussed, and demonstrated. Individuals interested in receiving training or training others as an escort flagger in accordance with Texas law and Chapter 22 of the Basic Peace Officer Course can take this class to meet the new regulatory obligations.
- Course Content Includes:
- TxDOT's emphasis on flagging operations
- The requirements of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) on flagging operations
- Demonstrating how to set up flagging operations in accordance with the TMUTCD
- Describing safe set-up and take down procedures
- Demonstrating the appropriate use of flagger hand-signaling devices
- Demonstrating effective teaching and presentation techniques
Certificate:
Upon successful course completion, participants will receive a Certified
Instructor for Qualified Flaggers certificate, which will be valid for a four-year period.
This certificate permits the student to train qualified flaggers in accordance with the TxDOT requirements.

- A fully scripted Instructor's Manual
- Flash Drive with PowerPoint presentation
- TMUTCD Parts, 1, 5, and 6
- Qualified Flagger Reference Guide
- Temporary Traffic Control Trifold

Contract Courses:
UTA will contract with an organization to deliver a course at its location and at its convenience. Contract classes are best suited for organizations looking to train a minimum of 10 or more students. (Max class size of 20.) To get a quote on training, please email pwi@uta.edu or call 817-272-9632.
Cancellations:
UT Arlington reserves the right to change or cancel any class. In the unfortunate event that a class must be changed or cancelled, you will be notified by phone and/or email. (Please provide us with the best way to contact you during the day.) The decision to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment will be made approximately one to two days prior to the class. In the event that a class for which you have registered is cancelled, you may choose another class or receive a refund in accordance with the UT Arlington-CE Refund Policy.
