Safety & Health Committees & Councils

This course describes the role safety and health councils and safety and health committees can play in effective safety and health management. Managed effectively, councils and committees are a valuable resource that can enhance the efficiency of your safety and health environment. Councils and committees can play primary role in employee involvement, communication, deliberation, conflict resolution, and decision making. The course identifies the types of meetings and the pros and cons of each type. Participants will explore the resources and skills needed to effectively utilize safety council and safety committees. We will discuss how to plan and conduct effective meetings. The course will also review OSHA, DoD requirements, and AR 385-10 to determine what council and/or committee meetings are required and when they are to be conducted.
