The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) sets the standard for educational excellence. As a leader in continuing education for safety and health, UTA offers fire safety training and credentialing. UTA's fire safety training provides a safety and health focus for firefighters by combining the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Safety trained firefighters and emergency service personnel can effectively implement safety and health requirements at the fire department and firefighter levels. UTA provides professional education, technical assistance, and support services in fire safety.

Life Safety Specialist Training and Certification Program

The Life Safety Certificate provides detailed training to participants on the requirements found in the NFPA 101 - Life Safety Code and other applicable requirements. In this program you will gain the concept, structure, and technical knowledge necessary to apply the NFPA Life Safety Code to everyday issues affecting the fire service, industry, and your community. This training allows participants to identify basic life safety requirements and address those related to specific occupancies. It also maps the relationship to other safety and health requirements such as 29 Code of Federal Regulations 1910 and 1926.

Fire Safety Specialist Training and Certification Program

As a leader in continuing education for safety and health, UTA provides fire safety training and credentialing. Our Fire Safety Specialist Certification focuses on the safety and health skills and knowledge required to protect firefighters and emergency management service personnel, equipment, and facilities. You will master the 'know how' to analyze, implement, and manage an effective fire department safety and health program. CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS


SSH shield

Earn your SSH in the Construction or General Industry by completing one (1) required course and three (3) electives. Earn your SSH in Risk Management, Fire & Safety, Disaster Response, Oil & Gas, Port Safety, or Healthcare by completing the required courses and two (2) electives.

CSHO Logo

Choose from General Industry or Construction. Complete six (6) core courses plus two (2) elective courses. Courses may be completed at the UT Arlington OSHA Education Center or any OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Center in the country.

SHEP

Earn your SHEP by completing coursework in Safety and Health, Environmental, and Risk Management. Completion of your SHEP credential fulfills the prerequisite requirement for the Master Certification programs.

The Master Certification is our most advanced level of certification with tracks available in Safety and Health, Environmental, and Risk Management.

CLSS Cert

Certified Life Safety Specialist (CLSS) provides detailed training to participants to develop their knowledge and skills on the NFPA 101- Life Safety Code and OSHA Standards.
