This course prepares the student to assist in dental practices. Classroom and practical instruction includes oral health, dental disease prevention, infection control, dental instrumentation, oral anatomy, and assisting in the delivery of dental care and treatment. Upon successful completion, the student is awarded a certificate of completion from UT Arlington.

Students interested in becoming registered with the State of Texas must take a state mandated registration course and exam. Certifying bodies may require documents as proof of employment eligibility. All programs include HIPAA, infection control, blood borne pathogens, personal protective equipment and hand washing review. Total Hours: 336 (176 classroom + 160 externship)

Prerequisites: High school diploma or equivalent and current immunizations.

Fee: Includes textbook(s), one set of scrubs, CPR certification, personal liability insurance (externship), and State of Texas Registration course and exams.

**Additional Cost: Required immunizations, drug screen, and State of Texas Dental Assistant (1) licensing fee and (2) activation fee.
