This course provides small business owners, managers, and supervisors with a practical understanding of essential human resources practices tailored to the unique needs of small organizations. Designed for businesses without a dedicated HR department, the course focuses on managing people effectively while staying compliant, organized, and legally sound.
Participants will learn how to recruit, hire, and onboard employees; develop workplace policies and job descriptions; manage employee records; and understand basic employment standards and labor laws. The course also covers performance management, employee relations, workplace communication, discipline and termination processes, and strategies for creating a positive and productive work environment.
Through real-world examples and practical tools, learners will gain the confidence to handle common HR challenges, reduce risk, and support employee engagement and retention. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to implement simple, effective HR systems that support business growth, compliance, and a healthy workplace culture in a small business setting.
