Managing Industrial and Hazardous Waste (Workshop)
This course covers the state-specific regulations for managing hazardous and industrial waste in Texas. Topics include: Texas regulations vs. Federal regulations, hazardous and industrial wastes classification, identifying and managing Texas-Specific universal wastes, regulatory exclusions and exceptions, preparing the Hazardous waste manifest, recordkeeping and reporting requirements in Texas, as well as pollution prevention planning.
Prerequisites WST 401 Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).

Sandy Eapen
Sandy Eapen is an Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) & Sustainability Advisor and Strategist with 20 years of diverse impact-oriented career experiences across the corporate, public, and nonprofit sectors and multiple industries, including technology, financial services, chemicals, management consulting, and international development.As Founder of Eapen Impact, Sandy partners with companies to build and advance ESG, sustainability, and social impact strategies that drive more impact and business + stakeholder value. She was Head of ESG, Sustainability, & Corporate Social Responsibility at Coupa Software, where she launched the company's ESG program, led the strategy, governance, stakeholder engagement, and reporting, and advanced various strategic initiatives, including climate change, volunteerism & philanthropy, and sustainable business spend management products. She also currently teaches and coaches for the Sustainability Leadership Program at The University of Texas at Austin's McCombs School of Business and for The University of Texas at Arlington's Environmental Training Institute.
Prior to Coupa, Sandy worked at BSR, where she advised a portfolio of Fortune 500 corporations and private equity firms on ESG strategy development and implementation, reporting and communications, governance structures, stakeholder engagement, responsible investing, and more. Before BSR, Sandy led business development and strategic planning initiatives as a Director/Chief of Staff at American Express, where she also launched an employee-led sustainable business committee. She also advanced small-scale business models and public-private partnerships for renewable energy in India and Africa with the UN Development Program. Additionally, she was a management consultant at BearingPoint and led manufacturing energy efficiency projects at Dow Chemical as a Six Sigma Black Belt.
Sandy holds an M.B.A. and Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Asian Family Support Services of Austin and the leadership teams of the Texas Exes Sustainability Alumni Network and the Columbia Business School (CBS) Austin Alumni chapter. Sandy has also served on advisory boards for Literacy, Inc. and the American Red Cross of Greater New York.
