This course covers the development and implementation of controls and strategies to prevent or mitigate silica exposures in construction, maritime, and general industries. Course topics include describing the requirements of OSHA's Respirable Crystalline Silica standards and recognizing the hazards and risks, assessment options, and exposure control measures associated with silica exposure.

Notes:

Participants must live or work within OSHA Region VI (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas).

Technical Requirements:

This training will be conducted via Microsoft Teams. No software download is required, however participants are required to have the following:

  • A stable internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE)
  • Speakers and a microphone – built-in or USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth (note: you can use the microphone and receiver built into your smart phone, however, earphones with a microphone are recommended)
  • A webcam or HD webcam

Tandi Ball

Tandi received a Master of Science in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Oklahoma and has been in the industry of occupational safety and health since 1991. She is a Certified Safety and Health Official, in both the construction and general industries. As an OSHA Compliance Officer for the State of New Mexico, she participated in the OSHA response to the events on September 11, at the World Trade Center. She has been an OSHA Education Center instructor since 2001.
