Environmental Training Institute (ETI)

The UT Arlington Division for Enterprise Development offers compliance assistance training for those managing environmental challenges or implementing environmental regulations in Air, Waste, Water and Management. Through training and education, you or your employees can play an active role in your sustainable compliance strategy. Visits from the EPA can be extremely expensive. Free Earth Day Outreach Training (Lunch Provided)

The University of Texas at Arlington's Environmental Training Institute offers compliance assistance training for those managing environmental challenges or implementing environmental regulations in Air, Waste, Water and Management.

Each year, we participate in Earth Day outreach events. Our major, annual event is our free annual Earth Day outreach training event featuring speakers from industry professionals and regulatory to bring current and relevant Environmental Training to both seasoned and entry level environmental professions, as well as our university students.

Intro to Water and Wastewater Regulations (Webinar)

This course provides an introduction to the Clean Water Act (CWA) and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), to include the NPDES permit types for storm water, industrial wastewater, domestic wastewater, and pre-treatment. Case studies and class activities will be used to provide opportunities for participants to utilize knowledge gained during the course. The course will facilitate student's ability to attain and maintain compliance with applicable water and wastewater regulations, and to better understand how those regulations impact their organization.

Environmental Management Systems (Webinar)

This updated course specifies general requirements and guidelines of the new ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system (EMS) standard. A fully implemented EMS will provide reasonable assurance of minimal negative environmental impact, improved environmental performance and sustainable growth. EMS can be utilized as a launching pad to move organizations towards sustainability through environmental source reduction, self-regulation and continuous improvement.

Introduction to Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments (Online Webinar)

During this course, participants will learn about concepts and skills for conducting Phase I & Phase II Environmental Site Assessments following federal requirements. Topics include:

  • How to obtain records, site inspections, identify possible risk of contamination, historical photos, environmental liens, conduct interviews and how to write your final environmental site assessment report.
  • Explain basic concepts of sampling plan development and field screening techniques and documentation.
  • Identify the different types of sampling methods and protocols for waste, water/groundwater and soil.
