Topic: CPWR’s Safety Climate-Safety Management Information System (SC-SMIS)

Guest Speakers: Dr. Linda Goldenhar, CPWR | John Walsh, OSHA

Learn about some of the free tools available to assist you in effectively managing a construction safety program.

CPWR’s Safety Climate-Safety Management Information System (SC-SMIS) is designed to help construction companies monitor their safety program status and provide access to effective practices, policies, and procedures to improve their program. There will also be an opportunity for small to medium construction companies that may be interested to participate in a NIOSH Study.

The SC-SMIS can be used to:

  • Measure the company’s safety climate across eight leading safety climate indicators using CPWR’s reliable and valid Safety Climate Assessment Tools.
  • Use the system-generated report as a guide to select from over 100 evidence-informed safety management policies, procedures, guidelines, and templates available in English and Spanish to target low-scoring indicators.
  • Develop a plan to start putting the selected resources into action.

Benefits to participating companies:

  • Understand current level of safety climate maturity with access to many already-developed evidence-based safety management resources to use.
  • An engraved plaque recognizing participation in an important construction-related study.
  • Acknowledgement and recognition of participating on CPWR’s website.
  • Hardhat stickers for employees.
  • Text to use/modify for use in newsletters, press releases, etc.
  • The opportunity to help the industry as a whole by sharing experiences, thoughts, and constructive ideas with the research team about the SC-SMIS.
