Description:

This course is designed to provide participants with a thorough understanding of Behavior-Based Safety and begins with the evolution of BBS including the underlying principles, common myths and half-truths. Emphasis is given to lessons learned from experience and research. Long-term goals for BBS are identified along with proven steps organizations can take that lead to safety excellence. Participants will learn how to develop observation and feedback skills, how to use behavioral data to improve performance, ways to handle common barriers, and strategies to motivate employee safety performance. Current trends in BBS will be analyzed, including how to sustain a BBS process and keep it fresh. Case studies will be utilized to illustrate both successful implementations and lessons learned.

This training will be conducted via Microsoft Teams, and no software download is required. Participants must have a PC or Mac computer with audio and video capabilities, and an uninterrupted internet connection. Participants must present a government-issued photo ID to attend this training.

Named by Occupational Hazards magazine as one of the most influential safety leaders of the last decade and as a member of Industrial Safety and Hygiene News Power 101, James ""Skipper"" Kendrick, CSP has over 38 years experience in the fields of safety, education and training.

Skipper holds a BS degree in Industrial Technology, with a safety option, from Louisiana State University. He is a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by examination. He is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.

Skipper is a recipient of ASSE's highest honor, that of being named a Society Fellow. He was selected as the recipient of ASSE's National Edgar Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the Year Award in 2000 and has also been recognized as Safety Professional of the Year for the Greater Baton Rouge Chapter (1985), Fort Worth Chapter (1989-90) and Region III (1988-89). Skipper also has been recognized as Bongarde SafetyXchange's National Safety Trainer of the Year.
