Phlebotomy Technician with Pediatric & Geriatric Specialization

A phlebotomy technician draws blood and prepares it for testing. Since many people fear needles and the sight of blood, the phlebotomy technician instills trust and comfort in patients by creating a safe, professional, and compassionate environment. Constantly evolving technology has created a constantly growing demand for medical lab tests, and phlebotomy technicians are benefiting from this. The range of skills a phlebotomist masters are useful in almost every other healthcare career path. The median income for phlebotomy technicians in 2015-2016 was $33,000 (entry-level starts at $22,000 and highly experienced technicians earn $45,000).

What’s in this program? Lessons on related anatomy, venipuncture tools and techniques, processing samples, and ways to help prepare patients physically and mentally for drawing blood. This program also includes a birth to the golden years specialization which provides students with an advantage when pursuing employment in a pediatric and/or geriatric setting.
Included Certification! Included in your program tuition is the exam prep material and an exam voucher for the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Phlebotomy Technician Certification Exam (CPT).
This program includes an optional clinical externship opportunity at a local healthcare provider! This will give you invaluable hands-on experience. Additional fees may apply for a background check, drug test and other externship site testing requirements. Fees will be paid by the student at the time of placement in the optional externship.

Summary: Phlebotomist skills are needed in almost every healthcare environment, and the time to learn those skills is relatively short.
