Some clinical hours must be completed during the day. Instructor will determine clincal dates during the first week of class.
These dates do not include externship hours for EKG and Phlebotomy.

This course prepares the student for employment in various medical facilities. Through classroom and practical instruction, the student will learn to assist with in-patient and out-patient care. Classroom and practical instruction includes bedside care; obtaining vital signs, measurements and blood samples; and recording electrocardiograms. Upon successful completion, the student will be awarded a certificate of completion from UT Arlington and is eligible to sit for the Nurse's Aide certification exam with the State of Texas, as well as the National Healthcareer Association's certification exams for EKG and Phlebotomy. All programs include HIPAA, infection control, blood borne pathogens, personal protective equipment and hand washing review.

Total Hours: 380 (220 classroom, 160 clinical/externship)
Prerequisites: High school diploma or equivalent, current immunizations, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.
Fee: Includes textbook(s), two sets of scrubs, CPR certification, personal liability insurance (clinical/externship), and certification exams (Nurse Aide, EKG Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician).
**Additional Costs: Required immunizations and drug screen.
