Fundamentals of Air Quality

CEE 201 - Fundamentals of Air Quality

This course will assist participants in navigating air quality regulations. Significant air regulations and the industry implications are covered. This course is beneficial to environmental, health and safety professional as well as operations personnel, process engineers, environmental attorneys and others who need an introduction or update on federal air quality regulations.

*Equivalent to course code ETI 201

  • Common sources of air pollution
  • Preparing and maintaining an emissions inventory
  • Regional Programs/Common Elements of State Programs
  • Permitting - Discusses the most common types of air permits and some basics of preparation
    • General permitting issues

    • Permit by Rule
  • Toxics Release Inventory - air specific issues
  • Title III
  • Record keeping and reporting
  • Maintenance and repair of control equipment
  • Best Management Practices (BMP's)
  • Monitoring
  • Preparing for an inspection
  • Top violations and how to prevent them
  • Emissions banking and trading
  • Public relations ("nuisance complaints")
  • Upcoming regulations and how to prepare
