Sterile Processing Technician

A sterile processing technician cleans and sterilizes used surgical instruments and other medical supplies so that they can be safely redistributed and reused on additional patients. This course prepares students to clean, disinfect, and distribute sterilized instrumentation and equipment to various areas of a healthcare facility. In addition, through their externship students will work in a sterile processing department and central service department setting to gain real world experience.

This class is taught using the books and curriculum of the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). Though not included in tuition, students are prepared to take the CRCST Certification offered by HSPA. Total hours: 220 (60 classroom & 160 externship)
Tuiton includes: textbooks(s), Health Careers Institute ID badge, one set of scrubs, drug test, CPR training and externship placement.
Orientation: held on the first day of class. We will go over everything you need to submit, as well as discuss externship placement at this time.
