Sterile Processing Technician

A sterile processing technician cleans and sterilizes used surgical instruments and other medical supplies so that they can be safely redistributed and reused on additional patients. This course prepares participants to clean, disinfect, and distribute sterilized instrumentation and equipment to various areas of a healthcare facility.

This class is taught using the books and curriculum of the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). Though not included in tuition, students are prepared to take the CRCST Certification offered by HSPA. Classroom hours: 60
Tuition includes: Textbooks(s), UTA-EEC ID badge, one set of scrubs, drug test and CPR training.
Orientation: We will go over everything you need to submit and answer all of your questions on the first day of class.

PLEASE NOTE:
Sterile Processing Technician participants are not required to complete an externship in order to be eligible for certification.
As a result, externships are no longer assigned as part of the program. Participants will develop the required skills through structured classroom instruction aligned with certification standards. Participants choosing to complete an externship must independently secure their own placement. Program staff will assist with onboarding after a site has been confirmed.
