WKZ 520 WORK ZONE TRAFFIC CONTROL/QUALIFIED FLAGGER

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course provides foundational training for personnel responsible for the design, layout, and maintenance of traffic control devices on public roadways. Participants learn proper use of temporary traffic control devices, work zone components, and correct flagging and hand signaling procedures. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Qualified Flagger card valid for four years.
- Proper usage of common temporary control devices
- Components of a typical work zone
- Legal responsibilities
- How to lay out buffers, tapers, advance warning areas, and termination areas
- Demonstrating proper usage of hand signaling devices and flagging procedures
AUDIENCE:
This course is ideal for anyone responsible for performing flagger duties or supervising flagging operations, either directly or indirectly. It also meets the training requirements for individuals seeking certification as escort flaggers under Texas law and Chapter 22 of the Basic Peace Officer Course.
CERTIFICATE:
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion from UTA’s Extension and Extended Campus Transportation Training and Development Institute (TTDI) and a Qualified Flagger wallet card valid for a period of 4 years.
