Certified Pharmacy Technician



Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to dispense prescription medications. Pharmacy Technicians usually work in a hospital pharmacy or a retail pharmacy, but can also work in laboratories. Pharmacy Technicians are in high demand due to the constant development of new drugs, and an aging population that requires more and more of these drugs. Pharmacy technician can also be the first step toward a career as a pharmacist, nursing assistant or other medical professional. Recent studies show that the average starting wage is $12.62 per hour, but this varies greatly by location. 2015-2016 studies show the median income is $32,000 per year (ranging from entry-level $26,000 per year, to $39,000 with years of experience).

What’s in this Program? This program covers prescription requests, measuring medications, packaging and labeling prescriptions, working with patient records, processing prescription insurance claims. Included Certification! Included in your program tuition is the exam prep material and an exam voucher for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (CPhT). Please Note: all candidates applying for certification must comply with all applicable PTCB certification policies including but not limited to criminal history policies.
