Certified EKG Technician

An EKG technician is trained to measure a patient’s heart performance. Using specialized equipment, the EKG technician records and then provides those measurements to the patient’s physician. Healthcare services are growing every year, and with the aging baby boomer generation, it is estimated that an additional 20% more EKG technicians will be needed in the next 3 years. Highly sought after for hospitals, clinics, and doctor’s offices, the EKG technician skills are even more desired when combined with Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant training, which opens up exciting career paths. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median income for EKG technicians in 2017 was $55,270.

What’s in this program? This program teaches a thorough background of the EKG profession, covering procedures and processes, electrode placement and leads, EKG machines and measurements, heart functions and cardiac medications.

Included Certification! Included in your program tuition is the exam prep material and an exam voucher for the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified EKG Technician Certification Exam (CET).

Summary: A fast-growing field, good wages, and a short training time.
