EMTs work under the direct supervision of Emergency Medical Services Paramedics. Classroom and practical instruction prepare the students to handle a wide range of tasks related to emergency care. In this course students will learn: patient assessment, basic life support, pre-hospital care (controlling bleeding, bandaging wounds, immobilizing broken bones), dispatcher communication, ambulance driving, and ambulance maintenance. Upon completion of the course, students will take the certification exam through Pearson Vue for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Total Hours: 272 (176 classroom + 96 externship)
Prerequisites: High school diploma or equivalent and current immunizations.
Fee: Includes textbook(s), two polo shirts, CPR certification, professional liability insurance, and EMT certification exam.
**Additional costs: Required immunizations, uniform (pants, shoes, belt), watch with second hand, trama shears, penlight, stethoscope, and drug screen.
96 hours of REQUIRED Clinical after classroom completion.
