Incidents occur in dynamic, constantly changing and often unpredictable environments. Various mechanical and procedural safeguards are used to mitigate the risk of incidents occurring. Such safeguards are necessary and have proven effective; but they are limited by their static nature. These safeguards are usually fixed, non-responsive and slow to adapt, leaving them inherently inadequate to mitigate risks in dynamic work environments. People, on the other hand, are suited to serve as a dynamic safeguard against incidents. When front-line employees see something unsafe in the moment, they are uniquely positioned to stop it and prevent it from resulting in an incident. However, employees often fail to fulfill this role. This training gives participants a thorough understanding of safeguarding issues, presents solutions, case studies and exercises relevant to the ESH field, which will then enable participants to implement solutions within their organizations.
